Home Cuff: Blood Pressure Log Privacy Policy
Home Cuff keeps the readings your home blood pressure monitor gives you: the two pressures, the pulse, and when each was taken. It is built so that nothing you record ever comes to us. Everything is kept on your phone, with a backup copy in your own iCloud account, and it goes nowhere else unless you send it somewhere yourself.
What the app collects
Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app has no servers of its own, and we have no access to anything you record. Your readings are stored on your device, in the app's own protected storage, and in the backup described below. The app does not use Apple Health.
The microphone
If you choose to say a reading aloud, the app asks for each number in turn and listens. The words are recognised on the phone by Apple's own speech recogniser, with on-device recognition required, so nothing you say is sent to a server; if a phone could only recognise speech through a server, the app does not listen at all. No audio is recorded or kept. Microphone and speech recognition access are asked for only when you first press Speak, and the app works fully without them: every reading can be typed on the number pad instead.
The automatic backup to your iCloud
Readings are kept for months and years, and a new phone should not start again from nothing. So the app keeps a backup copy of your record in your own iCloud account, in storage private to this app. It is made automatically and it is free. It is a backup and not a sync: the app reads it only when you ask it to bring your readings back, for instance on a new phone, and it is never shared with another person. It is held by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's terms, and protected as the rest of your iCloud is. We cannot see it, we do not receive a copy, and we could not recover it for you. You can switch the backup off on the app's Backup page, and you can delete what has been saved from the iPhone's Settings, under your name, iCloud, Manage Storage. Deleting the app removes the record from the phone but leaves the iCloud backup until you delete it there.
Sending
When you send a PDF of your readings, the file is made on your phone and handed to the app or person you choose through the standard iOS share sheet. Where it goes afterwards is under your control, not ours. The name printed on the PDF is one you type in Settings, if you choose to; the app never asks for it otherwise.
A record, not a medical device
The app does not measure blood pressure, does not connect to a monitor, does not say whether a reading is high or low, and gives no medical advice. It records what your monitor showed, as you entered it. What the numbers mean is a matter for your doctor.
Purchases
The unlock is a single purchase sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and the purchase record. The app asks Apple whether the unlock has been bought; it never sees your name, payment details or Apple Account. Apple's own privacy policy applies to that transaction.
Network use
The only connections the app makes are to Apple: the App Store, to read the price and confirm the purchase, and your own iCloud, for the backup. Recording, the week sheet, the trend and the PDF all work with the phone in aeroplane mode; the backup catches up afterwards. The app does not connect to us.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
